This beautiful mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 033 (February 5, 2004). The primary feature in this view is Spirit's lander, and if you look closely at the bottom of the ramp, you can see where the rover's wheels first made contact with the Martian soil. Tucked below the lander are the dusty airbags that bounced Spirit and the lander safely to the ground. In the foreground is the rover herself, with a very clean left wing. The tip of the Low Gain Antenna (LGA), which is attached to the rover, is visible in the left foreground as the shiny metallic cylindrical object. Pancam's 601nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in this mosaic. Three versions are available below at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, a false color stretch to enhance the subtle color differences in the scene, and a stereo anaglyph for 3D viewing through red-blue glasses.
