Photometry North 3

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 013 (January 16, 2004). The rover had driven off the lander at this point, and took a series of mosaics pointing north, west, and south at different times of day. This particular image contains data dropouts, where some packets of image information never made it to Earth from the rover. These appear as black boxes in the sides and the middle of the view. Pancam's 753nm and 432nm filters and a synthesized 535nm filter were used in this mosaic. Two versions are available below at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color stretch to enhance the subtle color differences in the scene.
