Workvolume Extension

         The Opportunity rover acquired this mosaic of the area in front of the rover on Sol 10 (Feb. 2, 2004).  The area just in front of the rover, called the workvolume, is the surface area closest to the Pancam instrument, and therefore allows for some of the highest resolution imaging of Mars.  This mosaic was an extension of an earlier, smaller workvolume image.  A small piece of the IDD (instrument deployment device) can be seen at the bottom left.  This mosaic covers a span of roughly 65 degrees across and 30 degrees high.
         This mosaic was acquired in Pancam's 753-nm, 535-nm, and 432-nm filters. Two versions are offered here at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color stretch to bring out subtle color differences in the scene.
