Structure From Motion
This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 4689 (April 2, 2017). Approximately 60 degrees wide, this mosaic is being used to create "structure from motion". Structure from motion (SFM) is a photogrammetric range imaging technique that uses two-dimensional images taken from different locations to generate an approximate three-dimensional computer rendering of the photographed structure.
Pancam's 753 nm, 535 nm, and 432 nm filters were used in making this mosaic. Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
