Carbuncle
This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 069 (April 3, 2004). This view shows some of the vast plains and sand dunes Opportunity spent much of it's time on Mars driving through. The mosaic covers about 30 degrees from side to side, but only about 8 degrees top to bottom, due to subframing of the images that make it up. The small crater named "Cornish Hollow" can be seen on the left side.
Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic. Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
