Outcrop

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 3064 (September 5, 2012).  The image was taken while Opportunity investigated the outcrop with its robotic arm, or Instrument Deployment Device (IDD) shown here at the bottom of the image. This area is part of Shoemaker Ridge on Cape York. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
