Endurance Dunes

This is the view from Opportunity on sol 211 (Aug. 27, 2004) of the dune field within Endurance crater. Above is an approximate true color rendering of the spectacular scene made from Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters. The dust (a lighter color) accumulates near the dune crests, while hematite-rich spherules, which appear blue against the scene in the false color version, tend to rest in troughs with more gradual slopes.
