"Bonestell"
This is the Spirit Pancam "Bonestell" panorama, acquired on sols 1477 - 1696 (February 28 - October 10, 2008). It is named in honor of space artist Chesley Bonestell. The 360 degree image was taken with a full filter set as Spirit wintered over at the North facing edge of Home Plate. This was the third winter campaign of the mission. In the center of the panorama, the dusty top of Home Plate stretches out to either side, with Spirit's dark tracks from an earlier traverse easily visible. To the right is Husband Hill, with the El Dorado dune field at its base. Spirit has been monitoring the changes in this location. To the left of Home Plate is Mitcheltree Ridge, and behind that rises the peak of McCool Hill.
The first image is an approximate true color rendering using Pancam's 601 nm, 535 nm, and 482 nm filters. Image-to-image seams have been eliminated from the sky portion of the mosaic to better simulate the vista a person standing on Mars would see. The second image is a false color rendering using Pancam's 753 nm, 535 nm, and 432 nm filters, but presented to enhance the many striking but subtle color differences between rocks, soils, hills, and plains in the scene.

NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Spirit used its panoramic camera (Pancam) to record a nearly 360-degree vista, dubbed the "Bonestell" panorama. This view is a "blue" stereo anaglyph of the view, showing it in three dimensions to viewers using red-blue stereo glasses (red lens on the left). The images combined into this anaglyph were taken through the Pancam's L7 (432 nm)and R1 (436 nm) filters.
