West Tracks

        This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exlporation Rover Spirit on Sol 800 (April 3, 2006). It was taken as Spirit made its way out of a sandy area near Winter Haven. To free itself from the sand, the rover was commanded to drive back over the tracks seen in the lower half of this image, toward the higher ground beyond. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in this mosaic. Two versions are available below at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color stretch to enhance the subtle color differences in the scene.
