Mogollon Rim  << back to mosaics

Mogollon Rim

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 620 (October 21, 2005).   The dark horizontal line in the upper right side of this mosaic is a portion of the rim of Erebus Crater, above an area of exposed crater wall called Payson. The field of view spans about 30 degrees. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
