Snoopy Rim  << back to mosaics

Snoopy Rim

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 616 (October 17, 2005).   Snoopy was a small, very faint crater encountered on the plains near the rim of Erebus Crater. The image shows a portion of Snoopy's rim, close to the rover's right wing. The field of view spans about 30 degrees. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
