Cape Douglas  << back to mosaics

Cape Douglas

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 3512 (December 10, 2013). The image shows the area directly around the front of the rover as it sat at Cape Douglas. The intention was to look for interesting targets for analysis with instruments on the robotic arm (Instrument Deployment Device, or IDD). The arm is visible in the center of the mosaic. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Four versions are provided at full resolution: both regular and vertically projected approximate true color renderings, and false color renderings to enhance the subtle color differences in the scene.
