Veladero

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 3003 (July 5, 2012).  This approximately 27 degree wide mosaic shows an area of outcrop near the Grasberg science target. The rover studied Grasberg with the tools on its robotic arm. Veladero is near Greeley Haven on Cape York, part of the western rim of 22 kilometer (14 mile) wide Endeavour Crater. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
