Haven

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 2780 (November 19, 2011).  This area of north-facing slopes is one of two candidates for a haven for Opportunity during the martian winter. Opportunity's Pancam cameras did this color survey just before the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday and the launch of the Mars Science Laboratory, Curiosity. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
