Turkey Haven

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 2779 (November 18, 2011).  Turkey Haven, named near the time of the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, is one of two Cape York sites considered for spending the winter. The slopes are north-facing, which Opportunity's solar panels need for spending the winter in the southern hemisphere of Mars. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
