Chester Lake

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 2709 (September 7, 2011). Chester Lake, named for a feature of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt on Earth, was the second target on the rim of Endeavour Crater designated for an IDD (Instrument Deployment Device) investigation. It is located near Odyssey Crater, a small (~15 meter) crater in the rim of Endeavour Crater. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in this mosaic.  Two versions are available below at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color stretch to enhance the subtle color differences in the scene.
