This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 2628 (June 15, 2011). Opportunity was driving through a field of small craters on the way to Endeavour Crater when this mosaic was acquired. The crater was located using orbital images from HiRISE (High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment) aboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. The rover did not stop to investigate, but shot images while passing by.
Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic. Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
