Endeavour Rim  << back to mosaics

Endeavour Rim

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 2569 (April 16, 2011).  Opportunity periodically took images of the rim of Endeavour Crater on the long trek toward the science target of Spirit Point, named for her twin sister. Some of these images will be combined into a sequence documenting Opportunity's journey. The large feature on the horizon is the goal of Opportunity's traverse toward Endeavour Crater. Pancam's 753 nm, 535 nm, and 432 nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
