Deck Pan #6

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sols 1906-1908 (May 14-16, 2009). Spirit tipped her Panoramic cameras down to acquire another self portrait, this time after her wheels got permanently stuck in some deep fine grained sand at Troy. The vertical projection used here produces the best view of the rover deck, though it somewhat distorts the ground and antennas. The eight-pointed star shape near the front of the rover (top of the image) marks the location of the camera mast, which is out of view of the Pancam atop the mast. Pancam's 601 nm, 535 nm, and 482 nm filters were used in this mosaic. This is an approximate true color rendering.
