Pioneer Mound

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 1871 (Apr. 8, 2009).  Pioneer Mound is a feature near the Northwest side of Home Plate. Spirit imaged the area between drives on her way around the West side of Home Plate. The field of view is approximately 30 degrees wide. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used to make this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering to enhance the subtle color differences in the scene.
