Grated

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 180 (July 5, 2004). The image is centered around a target called "Grated," which was located in an area of bright toned soil excavated by the rover's wheels. The mosaic shows a patch of ground near the rover that is about 54 centimeters wide. Each wheel print is about 14 centimeters wide. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.
Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
