Martian Chronicles

         This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 1801 (January 26, 2009).  The image shows a portion of the ground near Home Plate in the Columbia Hills. For scale, the larger of the two dark rocks near the middle is approximately 25 centimeters wide. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
