Schuchert  << back to mosaics

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 1647 (September 11, 2008).  The Schuchert mosaic shows part of Cape Verde in Victoria Crater. The field of view contained in these three frames (about 24 degrees) is slightly less than a normal three frame mosaic, due to subframing around the dusty right side of the lenses. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
