Dawson

Opportunity obtained this mosaic on Sol 1631 (Aug. 25, 2008) using Pancam's 753 nm, 535 nm, and 432 nm filters. The field of view is about 16 degrees high and 18 degrees wide.  Due to Opportunity's dusty front sapphire windows, the right third of both pointings in this image were subframed out to minimize darkening (which explains the 18 degree width).  The rock outcrop, called Dawson, was one of several related targets captured as part of a rock survey done as Opportunity was exiting Victoria Crater (see also Eugster, Barghoorn, and Du Toit).   Two versions are offered at full resolution: an approximate true color mosaic, and a false color stretch to bring out subtle color differences in the scene
