Foreground

         This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 1396 (December 7, 2007).   The rover took this survey of the foreground at the end of a drive on Home Plate. This kind of survey can identify possible targets of opportunity for further scientific work. Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
