Drive Direction

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 1150 (March 29, 2007). After finishing investigation of the Mitcheltree Ridge target Torquas, Spirit drove backwards to Home Plate. The rover's tracks from roughly 25-30 sols ago are visible in the left two frames of this approximately 58 degree wide mosaic showing the upcoming drive direction towards target Madeline English. The extra brightness in the bottom left corner of the right image is due to being pointed near to the Sun causing light to scatter off dust which has accumulated on the camera window. Pancam's 432 nm filter was used in making this mosaic. Two versions are provided at full resolution: a mosaic made from the left eye only, and a stereo anaglyph for 3D viewing through red-blue glasses.
