This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 107 (April 21, 2004). The 40 degree wide image shows the Columbia Hills, originally assumed unreachable by a rover with a three month mission lifetime. As you browse through the mosaics on this website, you will see that Spirit not only reached these hills, but she climbed to the summit and spent years exploring their different geology, and ultimately came to rest near a spectacular feature called Home Plate.
Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic. Three versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene, and a stereo anaglyph for 3D viewing with red blue glasses.
