Islas Baleares

The Opportunity rover acquired this mosaic of Islas Baleares on Sol 1021 (Dec. 7, 2006).  This mosaic was actually two individual multispectral spots, taken together. The images were designed to examine the rock cobbles spread around in front of the rover like a collection of islands.  No image was taken between the two spots due to a lack of cobbles.  Each image is about 16 degrees across and high.
This mosaic was acquired in Pancam's 753-nm, 535-nm, and 432-nm filters. Two versions are offered here at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color stretch to bring out subtle color differences in the scene.
