Dark Sands

         This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 079 (March 23, 2004). This is another view over the rim of Bonneville Crater, showing the heatshield on the opposite rim; other heatshield mosaics were taken on sols 75 and 77.  The view is about 30 degrees across.   Pancam's 601nm, 535nm, and 482nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
