Workvolume

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 062 (March 6, 2004). Covering roughly 30 degrees from side to side, mosaics such as this show the ground right in front of the rover. This provides information on possible targets for the Instrument Deployment Device (IDD) instruments to work on; thus the name "workvolume" for these types of mosaics.   Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 482nm filters were used in making this mosaic.  Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
