Big Bend
This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 040 (March 4, 2004). Imaging of the feature Big Bend in Eagle Crater was part of an extensive campaign to characterize the exposed layering in the area where Opportunity landed. The outcrop in this image spans about 1.5 meters.
Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic. Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
