Workvolume

This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on Sol 039 (February 11, 2004). Spirit cast a shadow on the workvolume in front of the rover in this routine end-of-drive survey of the ground in front of her. These surveys are routinely done, as resources allow, in case there is an interesting target of opportunity that warrants further investigation by the instruments on the Instrument Deployment Device (IDD).   Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 482nm filters were used in this mosaic.  Two versions are available below at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color stretch to enhance the subtle color differences in the scene.
